Why University Lecturer Commited Suicide After Wife Delivered Of Baby
Facts have emerged on why principal lecturer in the Department of Adult Education of Tayo Akpata University, Ekiadolor, Benin in Edo State committed suicide despite the fact that his wife delivered of a baby.
Premierenews reports that the late Friday Orobator committed suicide by hanging himself on a rope over a 13-month unpaid salary.
The senior lecturer was in his 50s and his wife had just been delivered of a baby and he was traumatized because he had no money to take care of his family and the new baby.
Orobator, a father-of-four, according to report hanged himself at his Obakhazbaye, Benin residence when nobody was in the house except him when the thought came over him and he killed himself.
His lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment around 1:30 pm with the green rope he used to hang himself still on his neck.
The matter was reported to the police who went to the scene and retrieved his corpse and taken to the morgue for autopsy report.
The incident shocked both his neighbours and the management of the school who owed them arrears of salary. However, they insisted that it was not enough to terminaye his life.
The Chairman of COEASU of the tertiary institution, owned by Edo State Government, Fred Omonuwa, confirmed all the staff had not been paid for 13 months.
