Gas Explosion Update: 5 Dead, 3 Injured & 44 Buildings Destroyed- Premier News Reporter
Five victims have been reportedly burnt to death, three injured while 44 buildings were destroyed over the gas explosion that rock Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos this morning.
Those affected include a woman and two kids whose identity have not been disclosed while the security agencies were said to be on ground bringing the situation under control.
Eye witness account said that preliminary assessment has revealed that 44 buildings are affected, one school, Church and event Centre, 89 shops, tricycle, gas tankers, 23 electric poles, two transformers and one motorcycle were all affected in the incident
There was no official statement over the cause of the explosion as we continue to bring details as it unfolds.
However another account stated that the incident happened at about 6.20 am at Candos Road, Baruwa Inside, Ipaja, Lagos, when one LPG tanker was in the process of discharging at the Best Roof Plant Station and the Station Generator was on and from where it was reported that explosion erupted.
The explosion threw the discharging tanker across the road.
There are casualties as some corpes have been recovered but search and recovery will be carried out after the emergency phase.
